Social networks have come to stay. They are no longer used to communicate with your childhood friends that you thought were lost, or to share photos of your vacations with your followers and contacts, just like a few years ago. Now they have become one of the best marketing tools to attract more visitors to your web pages, increase customer loyalty, and increase sales of any type of business. Let us know more in detail, the advantages of advertising on social media for a small and medium business. And best of all, advertising on social networks can cost you very little or even nothing.

Here, I share the two most effective strategies to use the social networks for businesses and start attracting customers that generate great income for your venture.

  1. Choose the most appropriate social network:

This is the first and the most important piece of advice that you should keep in mind when doing social media advertising. Depending on your type of business or the medium with which you want to generate income from a web page, a blog, or an online store where you sell your products and services, you must choose an appropriate social network. The only exception here is Facebook. Facebook continues to be the social network that has registered the most users worldwide, and that both men and women of all ages use it equally.

Who does not have an account on this platform today, even if they hardly use it? That is why it is mandatory that, whatever your type of business, open an account on Facebook for this. As for the rest of social networks, you must choose which one to use depending on your endeavor. If you have a business that offers services or products for other businesses (B2B), you should consider the use of the advertising solutions offered by Linkedin.  Linkedin allows you to segregate the users of Linkedin taking into account their professional characteristics.

If you have a blog, Twitter and Google+ are good social networks to promote your content, but if the theme of your blog is about very visual elements like beauty and makeup, cooking, fashion, movies, art and crafts, etc, it is good that you use Pinterest or Instagram instead. With online stores the same thing happens. If you sell products that ‘enter through the eyes’, the best choice is to use Facebook combined with Pinterest, Instagram, or even Tumblr.  On the other hand, if you have a website where you offer your services like website design, consulting, coaching, and so on, the social networks that will be your best pet are Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn in addition to Facebook.

  1. Include specific hashtags for your audience:

In case you do not know, a hashtag is a label that is used to mention phrases or photos that are published, so that other people interested in it can find them without any difficulty. Hashtags are used by putting a hashtags (#) before the word or phrase you want to write.

I have been on social media for years or to be precise right from 2007 and taking full advantage of almost all the popular platforms with a large following. Social media has its own protocol and you have to follow it. For instance if you use Reddit, one of the best of its kind and you don't know how to use it the chances are they will block you. In some cases you don't even know but your account is inactive.

Facebook, considered one of the most popular is not as effective unless you have a group of dedicated friends that works particularly for promoting each others work otherwise your efforts will be limited to get a simple "LIKE"

Twitter is different of course where some views are assured but then it all depends on the rate of bounce back.  I can give you a detailed way of working of different social media but my most favorite ones are LinkedIn and Twitter followed by Stumbleupon, Tumblr etc.

I think youtube would be the best, as it would drive traffic to actually interact with your site instead of just interacting on facebook.
