So I've begun to work on a blog based around creativity- whether it's writing, graphic design, traditional art, etc. Now, I'm a bit inexperienced but I want to go ahead with the project, but I have begun to look for a blog co-owner on Forum Promotion. As I expected there wasn't much interest but I did end up finding one person who displayed interest. I've gone ahead and contacted said person and have spent time looking through their posts on the forum, and I'm slightly wary of working with this person.

First off, this person has a new start-up forum that, upon inspection, isn't bringing in a lot of people. Now, I don't mind whoever I work with having another couple projects so long as it isn't excessive, but it is slightly concerning to me that this person would go looking for another position when they currently have a project that, to be frank, needs help. Secondly, they seemed overeager. Again, no issues with someone who is excited, but their vibe just came off as less excited for the project and more excited for the position I was offering.

There are a couple of other things about this person that just is sort of making me doubt bringing them onto the team, but given that I really feel the need for someone to work with on this project as I'm very new to this, I'm not sure I can afford to say no to them. Thoughts?

I know exactly who you are talking about so I guess my thoughts will be slightly more useful for you. I hate to say this about anyone, but I do believe that your concerns are valid. The mentioned user has quite a large number of sites and I'm not sure why he has so many really.

When you say a couple of projects, the reality is that the number of projects he has started in just the last month is probably in the double digits. Whilst, it is ultimately up to you, I would suggest holding off and going for someone else. It's better to go it alone than to hire someone that just wants to start a large number of sites and then immediately gives up on them really.

If you need any help with decisions or some advice, feel free to post in our Brainstorming & Support forum and I'll be happy to help out with some things - https://adminloop.com/forum/brainstorming-support/

Thank you for your advice, I'm newer to the community, so I was really only aware of one of their projects, so bringing that to light is much appreciated. I intend to let them down as they fall short in a few other areas, but nonetheless, I appreciated your input.

I too know who you are talking about. It's cool if they wish to create many different sites, but honestly I don't see how they would be able to contribute to a project such as the one you're working on. The articles they would write probably wouldn't be but a few sentences, and even then would they be active on the blog? I don't know if you managed to find the right co-owner yet, but I hope you do find someone who's dedicated to writing helpful articles for your readers. 🙂 This is one of the major things to look for when working on a blog, because unlike on forums where you can get away with posting one word or simply one sentence in a topic, on a blog you'll need to write engaging articles that look professional.

If you have any doubt about a staff member, they shouldn't be on your team. You need to trust your moderators 100% otherwise you will always be watching over your shoulder!

This. Not only will be you able to trust them as a moderator with certain abilities on your site but you won't have to worry knowing that your moderators will be able to handle a lot of the issues or problems that they face on your site.

If you aren't sure about them, it's better to wait a bit and then hire someone that you feel a lot better about.
