There are many domain extensions available for free in the domain market. And .TK is one of them. There are registrar that offer them free of cost. However it is pretty much known that most of such free domain extensions that are now prime target of the spammers and the scammers. So it can be less credible if we use those domain extensions for forum and the blog. And Google devaluing those domain extensions makes it harder for us to use those for anything of serious value.

Do you think there is any SEO and revenue wise value in the .TK domain name?

I don't really buy all the crap that consumers care about the domain extension.  In fact, lol, they don't care at all probably!  However, though, not having a .com (or in some cases a popular national extension like .co.uk)  - can hurt business because people might not remember the name correctly.  For instance, YZCarShop.biz (imaginary website) won't have as much memorability - unless you also advertise the .biz part.  I have seen so many forums using some odd extension but then just advertising it - without the extension (Well, Forum Promotion, a .net, does that, no offense, lol.).

OK, there is a minority that thinks .com is more professional - but that's just like people who demand clothes from fashion stores - or demand a BMW.

Do you see any .tk domains when you search for something you want in Google? I don't and that answers the question for me. I doubt I'll ever consider purchasing a .tk domain unless I begin to see more websites like that in Google when I search for something in Google search that I need/want.

Well, it's a decent domain for very small sites but of course, Blogs, Stores, Forums etc. will definitely want to stay away from it. If Search Engines like Google or Yahoo! don't show any of these types of domains then what's the point in trying to get ranked. Not to mention, people are so used to the .com domain nowadays that it'd be hard to memorize something like cool.biz or fun.tk

Google (etc.) doesn't hate sites with that extension.  It's only that no big websites ever use it.  However, if a well optimized (including being very popular) site did want to use it - sure enough, it would rank on the engines.

Personally, if I was up to creating a new website I wouldn't use the .tk domain name. I would prefer to think of an unique .com domain name as it seems the standard nowadays. And the first thing that comes to the mind of a person is .com. After all, it's a New Zealand domain.

It's personal preference. Of course a .com domain would be more profitable and professional although it will come with a price tag

You have to make a tough decision. At the end of the day, if your starting out and planning on how to generate revenue, a free extension could be a way forward. It'll will still rank in Search Engines such as Google if your website becomes very popular.

If it's not .com or .net or .org , I don't see much value.

What about if you don't have the funds to host a premium extension? You could always re direct your .tk domain to your new paid one if your generating enough revenue. Is this something you would consider doing?
