I think this goes here, but does your friends and family know of all your online activities of running websites and being web admins?

Not many, actually most of my family members and friends are  too busy with their jobs and business activities so only my wife knows a little about my online activities. However, she is not interested in spending her time on internet (barring WhatsApp) so there...

My g/f and her family know about my sites, but not *my* family.  My family are straight arrows, whereas my g/f is very open minded and my adult site doesn't bother her. 🙂

I have more websites but my main traffic source is from search engines hence I didn't need to promote them to my friends or my family.

A few of my friends and family know of my website, and some are members (albeit somewhat inactive ones!).

I don't think many of them "get" forums and/or have little interest in them.

I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I post about Christianity Haven on Facebook a couple times a year so family and friends are aware of the forum...they just aren't active on it. It's hard to encourage people to take part in a forum when they're unaccustomed to that type of community life and my sister said that even though she hides behind a username she feels too exposed to post about herself.

Nope, few of my friends signed up. That they did as i kept bugging them, else no one would have signed up. I closed that project and no one ever asked me why.

I have started a new project now and i haven't said a word to my friends or family about it.

I have friends that know of my website, some have already registered to it, others haven't just yet. I think letting family and friends know about your projects is important and a great way to spread word of mouth to help grow. 🙂
