Domaining - the term for it, can also be a part-time thing or little hobby. Β OK, who has tried to sell domains? What were your results? Β Anyway, the key to getting rich in this stuff - is knowing the value, much as will automobiles or anything else.
What makes a domain more valuable:
- .com is the most valuable in the US
- High Domain Metrics, or Partially High Domain Metrics (in some cases) I mean partially to indicate that some domain metrics would be high and some would be average or low.
- it is easy to pronounce and/or remember.
- Normally, the Shorter the Better
- It has moderate or, especially, a lot of traffic.
Can anyone thing of more advantages?
I've never really sold a domain for a living, but boy if only I had a time machine π

These days i dont think its very profitable for domain selling unless you hold a premium domain name that has substantial amount of traffic and SEO impact if the domain you are buying comes with a website or not.
In the past it was very easy to grab a great domain and charge enough to make profit, there is so many extensions out there nowΒ and not just the top .com .net so its a massive pool and a saturated market these days with so many people doing this most are now selling a domain with a website that has great traffic, seo impact to make enough profit on a domain & the website included.
Yeah I'm going to agree with Gh0st on this one, unless you had a magic time machine to go and grab all the tippy top domains and hold onto them, you're probably not going to make a success of it in 2019. There are some that you could probably get and make a profit off sure, but unless you're holding back a hoard of top TLD's I'm not sure you're going to be making a living from it.
