Does your website sell banner ads? If so, how much do you charge, how much traffic do you get, and is it paid to your personal account via a credit card or some other method? Do you have a "business" listed or is it just your personal account?

Here and there if I want a bit more money in the bank, but most ads end up being ugly on the site I don't care to host them really.

Yes, I sell signature, banner and text advertising on my forum.

The only reason that I can think of a customer not purchasing is that there is not enough traffic going to my webite. I don't know if anyone can advise me on the best way to overcome this problem so I can increase my sales and potential customers.

Should I reduce my prices of my advertising services? What else would you recommend?

Overall, its a good way to generate a little extra money to cover the costs of Web hosting and maintenance.

Do you guys have a business PayPal or do you just have them send the money to your personal account?

Personal Account, your not actually running a business unless your generating profit, right?

As soon as start turning over profit or recieving to many transactions, I'll register my community as a buisness and upgrade my PayPal account to be on the safe side.

At this time we don't see enough consistent traffic to justify selling ad space. I think it's a good idea for the right websites as long as the placements, size, and amount of ads is heavily monitored so it doesn't interfere with the actual content the website was meant to provide.

In today's day and age, it's becoming harder and harder to market through ad's, as we're beginning to just subconsciously block them out since we encounter so many days after day. At least that's my take anyway.

I used to run a MMORPG forum as a hobby and was not benefiting from it in anyway. I did get the occasional PM from members who wanted to advertise on the forum for a couple of dollars. I saw no harm so I allowed it. I think if you have interest, then why not! As long as it does not clog up your forum/site.

I used to sell them here and there, it wasn't a thing that I actively looked at doing though. Most people block ads anyway so I didn't always get the enquiries asking about it but when they did I was happy to take the money at the end of the day. If they think it works for them, that's their thing. It's just a matter of making sure it doesn't make your site look hella ugly and off-putting.
