Sometimes what we start with is too specific or too broad and it can be hard to grow your community or maintain enough interest. They say General talk forum is hard to raise because of saturation and too niche makes it hard to gather enough people that enjoy the topic to keep the forum thriving.
I've seen forums that started as Zelda Communities and ended up moving to videogames in general or just a forum to hang out without any focus. I think adapting is important and might be better than abandoning the project completely. But it is important to make sure whatever we're switching to is something we still care about and have an idea of what we're gonna offer in order to stay relevant.
Have you ever decided to change your forum niche?
Nope, I've stayed the course despite urges to narrow my forum from general games to like Sony or Nintendo. I might have done better if I did but I enjoy what I have still.

I used to have a really large active forum years ago. But life in general got in the way. I have a graphics support board now with just a small general section and plug your board section. That way we can do graphics requests at our own pace and not worry about anything else.
