Internet is home to opinions from around the world. And some people can't take opinion in right spirit. And they end up harassing the writers, bloggers and the content makers. And this leads to trolling from their end if we continue to feed them in the platform. Each platform has it's own share of trolls on it. Handling them is not an easy task as it could hamper your platforms reputation.
So how do you manage trolls and the trouble members?
I either ban them or shame them. Most of the time trolls talk just to talk. There's really no point to what they're saying. They think there is but there isn't. So when they think they've bugged me to no end and think they've backed me into a corner, I do what I can to prove them wrong and shut them down for good.
I never really have to worry about my blog because I rarely allow comments on them. If someone wants to make a comment, they can reach me my email to communicate with me. This way, I also don't have to clean up tons of spam from bots that hit your blog hard.
As for forums, it depends. If they're really bad, they're going to get the boot.
Trolls are of course, annoying little brats. So to deal with them, there are plenty of ways to do that.
Here's a list of the most common ways of dealing with trolls:
- Ignore them
- Ban/Delete them
- Warn them
- Hire a moderator to deal with them
To my knowledge those are the common ways of dealing with them. There are a few other ways to deal with them.
If someone occur with a troller in their forum there is a few things they can do to get rid of him. They can either delete the threads and posts made by the troller or just entirely delete his profile or ban it. Or the administrator can just warn or talk to the user to see if they can reach to a point where the person can follow the site's rules.
Not sure why some people waste their time spamming someone's forum. Don't they have better things to do with their lives?
From past experience, I'll start of a one and final board warning before they get permently banned from accessing the forum. Bans have only happened in extreme cases of trolling. Usually a board warning does the trick.

A board warning seems to fix the problem in most cases. But there are also people who use VPN after they get banned from the forum just to make more accounts and spam/troll. The admin can delete the posts and accounts made from the troller but what is good to do if the person start to use VPN to get access to the site?

Consistently is key in this situation. Keep IPbanning all of the IP's. He will either get bored, run of proxies or have commitments to accommodate.
You can usually tell what user is ban evading from how well spoken they are.
Depends on how bad it is, but most of the time its just a simple ban and move on.

Depends on the situation, if it is just your average run of the mill troll - they'll get a nice kick out the exit door with a ban applied to them. If they keep coming back, they'll just keep getting banned until they get bored of what they're doing. If it's say, a member who's turned rouge, they'll get restrictions on their account to the point where they probably think they are banned until they start showing otherwise.
