When a new piece of tech comes out, do you wait or buy it right away?

When it comes to gaming consoles, I've always waited a little bit before buying it so that they have all the bugs worked out of it by the time I get one.  I don't recall ever getting a gaming console as soon as it was released.  Now, there are some video games that I've gotten as soon as they came out.

No, I don't.

Like when the PS4 came out in 2013, I got a PS3(Lol). I didn't know of the PS4 at the time and so I stuck with the PS3, loved it and grew attached to it. I didn't want to give it up. Then about 4 Years pass and in 2017, I get a PS4. I love it but I still think the PS3 is better.

As in terms of things like Phones, Tablets and Computers, no. If it works fine, runs fine and can do anything then there's not a point in upgrading when a new one comes out.

I only upgrade when things stop working. What's the point of wasting money for no reason? 😂

Depends on what it is and price.  I waited many years to get another SSD after the one I paid $400 for failed within 6  months.  Now I run two from a much more trusted brand and they were a LOT cheaper.  hehe

I haven't bought a new piece of tech equipment in years! I think the last thing we bought was to extend our wifi into the basement by using our electrical outlets. My laptop has enough memory and hard drive space for what I need to do so I see no reason to buy the newest and best just to one up the neighbors, so to speak.

Is the need to buy the latest  a type of showing off or is it because there is boredom with the current tech stuff out there?

This is exactly what I do. Unfortunately not the case with the Nintendo Switch. I wanted one, but those things are huge and super expensive. For this reason I went back to old school gaming. I hate buying stuff like this second hand but I miss a lot of the game boy games from my childhood and teens years, but they're way cheaper right now. Heck even 3DS titles are cheaper than the Switch.

Not right now but it sure gives me a kick and I always make it a point to check its features and buy it as and when possible. We have a very good buyback market /facilities in our country so getting rid of older stuff is not a problem here.

No, New tech doesn't interest me, Unless it is gaming related.  But even then, I don't have the money to buy new stuff, so I wait a few years till the price has gone right down.

The latest not mean it is perfect, you need a bit time to check reviews about it, maybe it still need to fix issues and always check if it is working for you.

Not till the one I have gets corrupted or damaged. Technology keeps on changing so it's better waiting. That's what I think is better for me.

For me it depends on what the item is and how much it costs. It also depends on if I can make do with what I've got too.

Like when the Switch got released I saw no point in buying it. It had no games (aside from Breath of the Wild) that I wanted to play so it wasn't critical that I rush right out and buy it. Plus I have the U so I could play Breath of the Wild on that. But over time, as more games got released/announced it became worth it for me to buy one. And when they announced a Switch bundle with Smash Ultimate? I pre-ordered that package a few days after learning of it. (Which I'm glad I did because the bundle sold out quickly and buying them separately was a bit more expensive.)

When I bought a PS4 I actually bought this on launch day as a gift. My grandmother and I went shopping to the local tech store to pick out gifts for christmas. (As is tradition in our family, my grandmother gives my siblings and I one game each. She has issues picking them out since they're all "tapes" to her. She has no concept of Xbox or Playstation.) We went first thing in the morning, arriving like 20 minutes after the doors opened. I immediately ran to the Playstation section to see if they had any PS4's there. None were on the shelf. I asked one of the associates there and they said they didn't have any on display. They did have some though because by sheer accident they got a double shipment and their first shipment had sold out completely already within the first 20 minutes. So I grabbed the PS4 the second they handed me one. Then we went and picked out the games for my siblings... I picked out the games they wanted... but because they were for both PS3 and PS4 I picked the PS4 versions. (My grandmother had no idea what that meant, they cost the same anyway so made no difference to her. And in the past she'd bought Xbox games for us despite us not having an Xbox.) She paid for the games and I bought the console. I took the console home, snuck it in the house and hid it so no one knew of it.  I later wrapped it and then christmas eve I took the wrapped box and slid it in behind the tree so no one could see it until near the end.

Christmas was fun that year... both my siblings opened their games and were kinda disappointed. They got the games they wanted, but didn't have the system for it. We opened the rest of our presents and they kinda forgot about the games thing. Until there was one box left that had no tag on it (I knew what it was of course... I'd wrapped it myself.) So I pulled it out and handed it to one sibling and got them to open it. They were ecstatic and quite shocked. Especially since the PS4 had pretty much sold out everywhere (and would continue to do so for several months after).

That is awesome of you VZ, it sounded like that N64 kid moment video.
