So for the past couple of Months now, I've had this Idea for a Software-Distribution Website.
How it would work is like this:
- Developer creates Application
- Emails Application to Me
- I review the Application(Check for Viruses, Broken Parts etc.)
- Email the Developer, telling them what they can improve on and if they've passed
- The Application appears on the Directory
Simple concept, I know. And yes, there are many other Software-Sites out there. I plan for this one to be for more newer Developers and for People who can't seem to find a Marketplace to put their Software on.
Tell me what you think. I think it's a neat, little Idea that if executed right, could work.
It's a good idea. But as you said, there are so many out there. You have to think about why they would want to use your directory and what benefits they would get out of it.
Additionally, it sounds to me like it might be more of a manual process where they have to email you, you check it and then upload it. A ready-made script might be better off to help both you and your end users.

It seems to be a good idea, but you need a good manpower to execute it perfectly. A very short and perfect verification and helping them monetize will be a good choice.
a good idea, but is it all free or for paid ones? How are you making your site easier to upload vs others?
