Could they be a problem with you? Myself, I have a drumming lesson forum - so making sure things are copyrighted and not "too much like other lessons" is a priority.  Anyhow, getting copyrighted isn't a big deal in the US.  Myself, I used Legal Zoom.

There was already a "Nerdface" in existence before I created my project, but I can't see it being an issue. Our logos and purpose are completely different, and it genuinely is a nickname that I've been given..

I haven't failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

A different domain extension - pretty much makes it a different site - legally.  I would say that especially if you emphasize the domain extension.

Nonethless, if a BurgerKing.xyz came out - would there be a problem?

It's good to get a copyright on your stuff, though I was such a noob back in the day I left someone's copyright out of a skin I copied onto my site because the copyright section didn't match up with the original skin I was copying to ensure it carried over well.

A valid point, but you're heading into trademarks which are a different thing entirely, and probably not suitable for 99% of web communities to consider exploring as an option.

Although let's say you were creating BurgerKing.xyz - then you'd most likely have issues, but generally trademarked names are well-known globally, so there's little excuse..

I wouldn't want to copyright anyone but always good to have something of your own or at least alter so you can't get pressed for it.
