I have my blog currently on shared hosting. And my host hawkhost has pretty high limits on the bandwidth and the resources. So that being said, I am trying to find out when and how the blogs usually hit the limits of the shared hosting. And that means that I have to get more traffic or use resources other way to hit those limits.
How do you decide when you are supposed to move to the VPS hosting?

I think Hawk Host will contact you about it and ask that you upgrade. That's probably when you should upgrade, or if you notice your site having problems staying up when it grows.
I normally buy a low-end VPS and track resource usage. When I need more resources, I upgrade.
